This was a great debut book by Allie Shante! I really enjoyed the world she created. I don’t think it’s done often that the FMC is the demon and the MMC is the angel. I loved that about this book! It was a fun twist on angels/demons.
This wonderfully crafted story is an adult fantasy about an angel and a demon forced to work together to investigate a breach into heaven's gates. The plot of this story was so damn good, and I could not read fast enough! I was stressed and at the edge of my seat OFTEN!
One thing that really stuck out to me was how Allie was not afraid to present the characters as they are and make no excuses for them. Dani and Elise are demons molded in purgatory who need no “redeeming arc”. They give no f’s about what anyone thinks of them or the things they’ve done in hell.
What happens when a soul seething demon gets pulled from purgatory to help angels? Chaos. Utter chaos, oh and a simping Angel with a praise kink.
